TRANSAVIA, Romania’s market leader in poultry, is entering a new business line, pet food production, with plans to build the country’s largest factory of its kind. The investment total €150 million and is entirely self-financed, through reinvested profits.
Spanning 65,000 square meters, the equivalent of nine FIFA-standard football fields, the new facility in Ciugud, Alba County, near the A10 Sebeș–Turda motorway, will produce enough food each year to feed over 11 million dogs and cats.
Once operational, the plant will offer a wide range of dry and wet pet food products, consolidating TRANSAVIA’s reputation as a vertically integrated producer in the agri-food sector.
Production to begin in 2026 Installation of equipment is scheduled to start early next year, with production set to begin in the second half of 2026, following testing and process calibration. The factory will be fully automated, digitalized, and robotized, featuring a continuous and autonomous production flow, from raw material input to packaging, labeling, and palletizing.
